Summer is Over, and School is Back in Session | Enjoy the Upcoming Community Events Safely

Amy Holsapple-Lueck, Recreation Manager • August 22, 2024

Summer has wrapped up, school is back in session, and we look forward to a safe and enjoyable season of community events.

We had an action-packed and enjoyable summer! The ImagiCamp experience, which began June 10 and continued for nine weeks, was filled with arts and crafts, indoor play, outdoor games, swimming, and the kids' favorite—bi-weekly field trips to local destinations.

Our after-school program began on Monday, August 19. The program costs $20 per day for homeowners, with non-homeowners paying an additional $5. During our after-school program, we play group games, help the children with homework, engage in fun seasonal crafts, and teach the importance of respect and care for others. Kids aged 5 to 12 who aren't in school can be dropped off at The Recreation Center between 2:30 – 6 pm. I'm excited to announce that we've added four Chromebooks to our center this year to assist the children with their homework. Not all families have a computer at home, and now we can help by providing Chromebooks for the children to use.

The Concerts in the Park have been well attended this year, and we have one more summer concert on Saturday, September 7, featuring Harmony Grove from 6 to 9 pm. Following this, our Fall events begin with the 21st Annual Classic Car Show on Saturday, September 21, at 5 pm. Click to view the detailed flyer.

Community events in the park are attended by people of all ages, and for safety reasons, no dogs are allowed in the community event area. While dogs are normally permitted on a leash in the park, they are not allowed to be walked on or off a leash during a community event. The only place where dogs are permitted off-leash is in the fenced-in dog park.

In addition to communicating our 'No Dogs at Community Events' policy in all our media, we have posted three signs in the park to remind participants of our safety policy. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our community members, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Community events are to be enjoyed by all, and the last thing anyone wants is an unfortunate incident with a dog and a child or adult. Not heeding this policy could result in opening up a conformance process, which can include a fine.

While most commuters from Ramona head to the coast to go to the office or school, one San Diego Country Estates resident takes the drive for a unique purpose: coaching Australian Football.
