Event leaders Kimberly Buckley and Jacqueline Tenwick, alongside the event committee, orchestrated a memorable experience for 84 participants engaged in a lively game of Bunco. The participants were seated at card tables arranged across seven islands in the vibrant setting of the San Vicente Room. The room exuded elegance, thanks to the creative touch of Kimberly Buckley, who dedicated twelve hours to its meticulous setup.
The ambiance was further enhanced by an array of raffles, a silent auction and door prizes adorning tables strategically placed along the walls. Additionally, a barbecue-style banquet table and beverage service at the event bar ensured a delightful culinary experience for all attendees.
This remarkable evening was made possible by the generous contributions of our sponsors in categories starting at $500 named the Big Kahuna and working down to Alpha Spirit, Surf Rider, Plumeria and Nemo with a $25 sponsorship, as well as the invaluable donations for the silent auction and raffle baskets. We are deeply grateful to all who contributed monetarily to defray expenses, enabling the event's success to shine even brighter.
The Soroptimist Facebook page summed up the night with, “What an AMAZING night of fun, fellowship, laughter & love all while raising money for the Soroptimist Scholarship program and the LYD & Dream it, Be it programs.”
LYD (Leadership for Young Doctors) and Dream It, Be It are two distinct programs offered by Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls.
LYD (Leadership for Young Doctors) aims to provide leadership training and support to young medical professionals, helping them develop the skills necessary to become effective leaders in their fields. LYD empowers young doctors to take on leadership roles within their communities, hospitals, and professional organizations.
Dream It, Be It is geared toward girls and young women, typically in secondary school or early college. It aims to provide career support and guidance, helping young women overcome obstacles and achieve their professional goals. The program often includes workshops, mentorship opportunities, and skill-building activities designed to empower participants and equip them with the tools they need to succeed in their chosen careers.
Both programs reflect Soroptimist International's commitment to empowering individuals, particularly women and girls, to reach their full potential and make positive contributions to society.
