Landscape Update: San Vicente Park

Nancy Zadrozny, Landscape/Open Space Manager • June 27, 2024

Creating a safe and beautiful environment.

After completing our annual weed abatement mowing, the Landscape Team is in Fire Fuel Management mode, a new process being developed this year. The goal of this work is to identify homes that need the 100-foot clearance per County Codes, which may extend beyond their property line and back up to open space. Additional clearing and limbing up of trees will also be a focus in our Open Space areas.

The Turf Reduction Project at San Vicente Park will be completed by the end of this month, and the final county inspections and approvals will occur next month. Numerous plants have been placed in various areas of the park, and we look forward to seeing the plants fill in, especially the new Butterfly Garden with many native plants and other pollinator attractors. Plant name tags will be added to identify the varieties. A natural area for kids to climb on tree stumps and logs is planned to be added soon. We hope you take a moment to come by, stroll the pathways, enjoy the serene environment, and be inspired by the beauty of our native plants and other drought-tolerant garden plants.

Pickleball players are invited to use the new pathway from the west side, which was developed in conjunction with this project. This access point features a beautiful new rock retaining wall, a DG path and an interesting mix of succulents lining the walkway.
