An old tree stump transformed into a charming Hobbit House recently, and we welcome its first magical resident, the adventurous gnome Sam Vicente, who arrived to spread joy and holiday cheer throughout the neighborhood.
At the corner of San Vicente Road and Ramona Oaks Road, an old tree stump has been transformed into a charming Hobbit House—a cozy, earth-embedded dwelling with a round door, warm wooden exterior, and rustic aesthetic, nestled harmoniously into the natural landscape. Last night, a glowing lantern appeared outside the house, marking the arrival of the adventurous gnome, Sam Vicente, here to spread joy and holiday cheer throughout the neighborhood. He was genuinely delighted to see the gnomes and other magical touches placed at the house by our amazing community upon his arrival!
Like all gnomes, Sam has a deep love for the earth and nature. He found the Estates to be the perfect place to settle, ending his wandering journey fueled by an endless curiosity to explore southern California’s habitats. Drawn to the house’s idyllic backcountry charm, he discovered a community where people of all ages enjoy outdoor experiences and nature’s beauty. Sam also adores horses and pets—especially dogs—and cherishes the connection he shares with both people and animals.
Sam Vicente’s greatest wish this holiday season is for everyone in the community to feel the magic of the season, share joy with one another, and keep the spirit of kindness glowing like his lantern. He reminds us that even the smallest gestures—a smile or a kind word—can light up someone’s day.
We invite you to visit Sam during the holiday season, stop by his Hobbit House, and say hello. Take a photo with him and upload it with your name, phone number, and email to the Sam Vicente Form by Tuesday, Dec. 24, for a chance to win a $125 San Vicente Resort gift card. The winner can enjoy a meal with friends and family at one of our restaurants.
The winner and a collection of submitted photos will be featured in our upcoming story, “Welcome the New Year with Gnome Sam Vicente.”
A warm thanks to Yosemite Mullin for alerting me about Sam Vincente's arrival.
