Caitlyn Doulgeropoulos and Bobby Ay, who met at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and have been together for nearly eight years, celebrated their upcoming wedding with an English Tea-themed bridal shower at the San Vicente Resort, featuring family treasures, elegant attire, and a delightful array of treats and games.
After almost eight years together, Caitlyn Doulgeropoulos and Bobby Ay are set to marry on October 5. To celebrate, Caitlyn's family threw an English Tea-themed bridal shower at the San Vicente Resort on Saturday, August 17. The couple met while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where Bobby was a standout pitcher for the Cal Poly Mustangs baseball team. Their relationship began as a friendship that blossomed into romance during college. After graduation, Bobby moved to play baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks organization for four years while Caitlyn pursued her nursing career. They continued their relationship, and Bobby eventually proposed. Caitlyn, of course, said, "Yes!"
Caitlyn is the daughter of Colleen Doulgeropoulos, the Food and Beverage Front of House Manager at San Vicente Resort. Caitlyn’s aunt, Maureen Garcia, who is Colleen's sister, and her daughter Emily, brought Caitlyn's English Tea theme to life using family treasures such as teapots and table settings that belonged to loved ones who had passed away. The theme took on a personal touch with Maureen and Colleen's sister Kathleen’s teapot collection and beautiful place settings from their parents, the Flahertys, who owned a successful catering business.
Maureen and Emily set up two bridal shower tables under the theme "All Her Favorite Things," showcasing Caitlyn's love for books, tea, and a charming old typewriter. The setup included fun shower games and a craft where guests could create their own bouquets with flowers from the table, reminiscent of an English garden.
Guests arrived dressed in brilliant English Tea party attire, including dresses, hats, and fascinators. The first stop was the "Bubbly Bar," featuring champagne, a selection of juices, and fresh fruits. Guests raised their glasses and toasted the couple.
The buffet table began with a baseball-themed basket of goodies, and guests enjoyed a variety of English treats, fresh fruit, nuts, snacks, and a beautiful charcuterie board created by Chef Ben. Three-tiered servers on the tables featured small tea sandwiches, scones, and macarons to complement the tea or a glass of champagne.
Catering Manager Joyce Whelehon and Executive Chef Ben Peterson, along with their teams, crafted a personalized and delightful experience for this memorable occasion.
Bride-to-be Caitlyn Doulgeropoulos, enjoy your wedding and your new last name, Ay!
